Acacia Wood Composite Products

We answer your questions about our company, Acacia's wood composite material, and sustainability, as well as, of course, about laying and maintenance. Read our answers here and let yourself be convinced of our high-quality product.

What does WPC stand for?

WPC stands for wood-polymer-composite. Wood (from intruder bush, in our case as the only manufacturer world wide) is used as the wood component of the product (approx. 70%), filled up with recycled polymers from i.e. used milk bottles and others and some additives and colours. All this is made into the product in a 4 step production process in our factory in Windhoek.

What are Acacia Composites?

Acacia Composites are products like decking, cladding, and battens that are made out of a mixture of wood fibres and an environmentally friendly polymer created using high-quality recycled polymers.

Where do you get the materials used to make Acacia Composites?

The wood fibres are sourced from conservation efforts to remove intruder bush threatening the natural environment of Namibia and the polymer is created from recycled plastic bottles and more from Namibia. The collection, sorting, cleaning, and processing of the polymers give people in need a living.

Is the bush wood you are using FSC or PEFC certified?

We buy our wood chips primarily from farmers around Windhoek to keep transport distances and our ecological footprint small. Some of these farmers are certified, some are not. But we think regional proximity is more important than a certificate when it comes to de-bushing. We know where our wood comes from.

How do I know I am getting a quality product?

Acacia Composites are subjected to rigorous testing and must comply with strict, certified, German quality standards. Check the "Download" are for more details on our quality standards.

What are the benefits of using Acacia Composites over wood?

  • More environmentally friendly

  • Easy to install and maintain

  • Easy to clean with soap and water

  • Resistant to rot, stains, and insect damage

  • Child and pet friendly

Overall, WPC is a more durable, low-maintenance, and sustainable material than wood. It can also save you money in the long run.

Are Acacia Composites made ethically?

Acacia Composites chose to produce our products in the German-friendly country of Namibia. It might have been more cost-effective to make our decking and cladding in countries where the welfare of the worker is compromised but we believe in people before profits and want to uplift communities instead of exploiting them.

Is the Acacia Composite production process ecologically responsible?

Sustainable and environmentally friendly production is our highest priority. Acacia uses only wooden fibres that are a byproduct of bush encroachment thereby protecting resources during production.

Acacia actively encourages “green” production. We are proud to offer you an environmentally sustainable, quality product.

As part of our manufacturing process, we are also able to recycle our products, reintroduce them into our manufacturing process, and recycle them in an environmentally friendly manner.
